Boba Fett Armor For True Fans
Boba Fett armor is the only garb that the bounty hunter from Star Wars episodes V and VI (Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) was seen in. Apart from the appearance of Jango Fett in the prequel, Episodes II and III, nobody knew what Boba Fett looked like. If you follow the storyline, Jango Fett was cloned to create the entire race known as “Storm Troopers,” the vast army wearing white battle armor in the older Star Wars films, Episodes IV-VI.
During an investigation conducted by Obi-Wan Kenobi, it was discovered that Jango Fett was the bounty hunter seeking to assassinate Queen Amidala, otherwise known as Padme, and the mother of Luke and Leia Skywalker, love interest of Anakin Skywalker (later Darth Vader). Jango was allowed one “son,” who was a clone that was allowed to grow up normally, whereas the rest of the clones were given accelerated growth to mature the Emporer’s Imperial Army. This clone was to grow up as Boba Fett.
It is unclear from the movies how the blue and silver battle armor of Jango was transformed into the green-tinted Boba Fett armor familiar to millions of fans. For that storyline you will need to read the graphic novels and other storylines in the official “Expanded Universe” books. The movies only hint at Boba’s past.
Boba Fett Armor fun fact:
Boba Fett armor is called “Mandalorian battle armor” according to the novels. It is reportedly the last suit of a now extinct race, and is a battle-scarred, weapon-laden suit.
Since Boba Fett always wore his armor in every appearance, he is known only by his armor and relatively strong, silent presence. A little known fact to the casual fan is that the concept of Boba Fett’s armor was drawn up in the attempt to create Darth Vader himself, where dozens of designs fell by the wayside, and a few wound up as bit parts in the movies (the Imperial guards, wearing the red caul and looking bishop-like in Return of the Jedi are one example).
Many who grew up watching Episodes IV-VI were held in awe of Boba Fett, likely because he was the main protagonist playing against Harrison Ford’s Han Solo, driving him finally to be frozen in carbonite on the cloud planet of Bespin in Empire Strikes Back. Boba Fett seemingly met his demise in the Sarlacc pitt on Tatooine, at the hands of new-found Jedi, Luke Skywalker.
Boba Fett was a mercenary, hunting bounty for payment for Jabba the Hutt, Darth Vader and seemingly anyone with the right payment. At the sight of Boba Fett armor, anyone in the galaxy was held in awe, for good reason. He was single handedly the best bounty hunter on the deck of Darth Vader’s star destroyer: Boba Fett always got his bounty.
